- Is Calorio free?
- Yes. Barcode scans and manual product entry are free without AI credits (anti-abuse limits: 100 combined requests per day with an account, 20 per IP without one). An account gets 3 free AI scans in total; without an account, you can try 1 a day per IP. Meal previews with 371 USDA ingredients, nutrient search, result sharing and weight trends are free. Meal tools and weight trends require sign-in; weight trends also require health-data consent. Premium has a 7-day trial without a card; saving meals and the daily diary are Premium features.
- What will I see after the trial ends?
- Your saved data stays available to read. You can still use any AI scans remaining in your free allowance; Premium tools are locked until you have Premium again.
- When can I buy Premium?
- Payments are not live yet. Until then, try unlimited free barcodes, 3 AI scans and the meal builder, no card needed.
- Why are barcodes free while a photo uses a scan?
- A barcode retrieves existing values from open databases or products confirmed by users, without running AI. A meal or product photo needs AI to read the image or look up values online, so it uses 1 scan. Barcode scans never count toward your 3 free AI scans.
- What if the product isn't in the database?
- Photograph it for 1 scan: AI reads the nutrition table or recognizes the product and looks for values on manufacturer and retailer websites, with source links. You can also enter the values by hand for free. If the photo result matches your product, confirm with 👍 to link it to the missing barcode for everyone. Without a barcode, there's nothing to link.
- Are these samples real?
- Yes. The scan result and the meal plan were produced by Calorio itself, for a fictional profile. The plate photo and the dish photos are AI-generated, and nutrition values are estimates.
- What happens after my 3 free AI scans?
- Barcode scans, manual product entry and meal previews stay free. Your results remain available through their links and in your history. More AI scans are part of Premium.
- Does the meal plan replace a dietitian?
- No. It is a planning tool. For a diet tied to a health condition, talk to a doctor or a dietitian.
